Adding to your Collection - User Guide

This guide explains how to start adding to your board game collection.

Step 1) Buy some board games.
This step is optional if you already own board games, but it can't hurt to repeat.

If you have a BoardGameGeek account you can import your collection.

Otherwise, you can go to /search and find the board games you want to add to your collection. You can either add it to your collection or to a specific folder.

Board games in your collection will appear in your /collection and other people will be able to see them on your profile. Once a board game is added to your collection it will be included in searches where people select your collection, unless they are in a folder that is hidden in search.

The wishlist folder is hidden in search. This indicates that you don't currently have the board game in your collection. You can create your own custom folders but everyone has a favorites, wishlist and unplayed folder.

Importing from BoardGameGeek

You can import your collection from BoardGameGeek if you have an account. This will fetch your collection from BoardGameGeek. You can go back to this page at any time to synchronize your collection again.

Note: Kallax does not modify your data on BoardGameGeek. We read data from your collection on BoardGameGeek but never modify it!

A list of changes will be shown to you before any changes are performed. You can select which you wish to perform. The changes will be performed once you click apply. This step might take a while for large collections.

Board games that you have marked own on BoardGameGeek since the last time you synchronized will be shown under the added-section. This section will also show board games that you have marked as want or wishlist, these will automatically be moved to your Kallax wishlist folder on import.

Board games that you have removed will be shown under the removed-section. Only games that you have imported from BGG will be suggested shown in the removed-section. If you have added board games directly on Kallax then these will not be removed, you can remove them manually under /collection.

All other board games will be added to a special flagged-section. This includes board games you have marked as wishlist - do not want or otherwise marked on BoardGameGeek. You can choose to move these to a specific folder on import.

The data you add to board games on Kallax, for example which languages you have the own the board game in, comments, or folders, will not be overriden.

Note that we do not import accessories. You can re-synchronize your collection at any time. Syncronization is not performed automatic.
